Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a class of persistent organic pollutants<\/strong> that have been shown to enter the food chain through environmental contamination. This can happen by use of PFAS-contaminated water, soil and\/or biosolid fertilizer when cultivating crops, and using PFAS-contaminated water and feed when raising livestock and seafood for human consumption.<\/p>\n While methods for PFAS detection in the water supply are well established, methods for PFAS analysis in food can be challenging due to complex sample types<\/strong>, differing sample preparation needs and low detection requirements (part per trillion).<\/p>\n Join Waters Corporation and CEM Corporation to discuss current methods for automated extraction of various food types and sensitive detection of PFAS, and to connect with the testing community about challenges and best practices.<\/p>\n
